The reading

When I first moved to Chicago, I needed to find an apartment quickly. I found a place on Maple Street that seemed perfect. It had two bedrooms, a nice kitchen, and was only $1,200 a month. But there was one big problem: the apartment was right above a busy restaurant. I worried about the noise, but I decided to take it anyway.

The first few weeks were tough. Every night, I could hear the clatter of dishes and people talking loudly. I thought I had made a mistake. However, I soon got used to it. I even started to enjoy the delicious smells coming from downstairs.

Now, after living here for a year, I’m glad I took the apartment. I’ve become friends with the restaurant staff, and they sometimes bring me leftover food. Plus, the location is fantastic! I can walk to work in just 15 minutes. So, despite the noise, I think I made the right choice.
