The form

In speech, it shrinks

Almost nobody says the full form out loud:

  • I have → I've
  • She has → She's
  • They have → They've

Note that she's can be she is or she has. The word after it tells you which: she's tired (is) versus she's gone (has).

Regular participles

Add -ed: work → worked, play → played, decide → decided.
