Last month, I learned a big lesson about checking facts. It all started on a Monday morning in Rivertown. I received a call from my friend, Mike, who said he saw a fire at the local bakery, Sweet Treats. I rushed to the scene, ready to report the story.
When I got there, I saw smoke, but it was coming from a small trash can behind the bakery. The fire department was already there, and they had everything under control. It turned out to be a minor incident, but the news had already spread like wildfire. People were talking about the bakery being destroyed, which wasn't true at all.
I realized I should have checked the facts before jumping to conclusions. Now, I always double-check information before sharing it. This experience taught me that even small mistakes can cause big problems. Next time, I won't let a hasty decision lead to misinformation.
